Brazil – Severe storms

Brazil POST wishes to inform that the cities of Juiz de Fora, Ubá and Matias Barbosa, in the state of Minas Gerais, experienced severe storms on 24 February 2026. 

Heavy rain has caused landslides and flooding in large parts of these cities, destroying thousands of homes and resulting in a death toll of several dozen people. 

The mayors of these cities have declared a state of public emergency in their municipalities owing to persistent heavy rains in the region.

As a result, postal services have been suspended indefinitely in the cities of Juiz de Fora, Ubá and Matias Barbosa until the rains cease and the floodwaters recede. The postcode areas and post offices affected are as follows:
