Italy – delays due to customs clearance and IT issues

The designated operator of Italy, Poste Italiane, wishes to inform that, following the entry into force of the new European Union (EU) Customs Regulation 382/2026 on 1 July 2026, which abolished the customs duty exemption threshold, the Malpensa Lonate Pozzolo office of exchange has been experiencing delays in the customs clearance of inbound parcels originating from non-EU countries.

This situation has also been impacted by IT issues, which are being continuously addressed. Consequently, Poste Italiane is currently unable to meet its normal service standards.

Poste Italiane has activated all available recovery measures to restore normal processing operations as quickly as possible and minimize the impact on its services. Based on the current assessment, a return to normal operations is expected in the course of August 2026. Poste Italiane thanks its partners and customers for their understanding and cooperation. Updates on the situation will be provided as additional information becomes available.
